Tai O Public Pier is located at Tai O in Islands Districts. Tai O Heritage Hotel, which is located next to the pier, was the Old Tai O Police Station. Tai O public Pier is mainly used by the fisheries, Kaito and the visitors of the Tai O Heritage Hotel. The existing pier doesn’t meet the current needs, for example, it lacks barrier-free facilities, a pier cover, and seats.

Key design considerations for this pier improvement project includes improving boarding and access facilities, such as adding landing platforms along the steps which connect to the pier ground by a ramp to facilitate boarding and alighting of passengers, improving the waiting area in terms of comfort and safety by providing new facilities, such as a pier cover and seats.
